My house is FULL of books! Since I  LOVE books (no surprise that I am a high school English teacher or in the process of writing my own book) I have been READING some great books over the course of the last year.

I would like to share some of the best books I’ve read that have changed my entire perspective on becoming the woman I desire to be and completely changed the way I empower women!

  1. The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Shiver

This is a book that was recommended by my book coach and best selling author, Ms.Tiphani Montgomery. This book has completely changed my life this year, and allowed. It will show you a new way of looking at every single situation in your life: love, money, business, career/purpose, etc and help you shift your thinking to manifest everything that is divinely yours! It is quite magical.

  1.  Madly in Love with ME: The Daring Adventure of Becoming Your Own Best Friendby Christine Arylo

Christine is the “queen of self love” and this book will help you assess every single aspect of self in your life: self love, self respect, self care, self worth, self appreciation, etc and help you increase every level of self love in your life. Truly a gem!

  1.  The Lady, Her Lover, and Her Lord by T.D. Jakes

Excellent read for women of faith. TD Jakes eloquently ties all three together and discusses the importance of each separately and as a whole in your life. He beautifully discusses healing past pain and wounds and also depending on a higher power for strength in balancing the demands life brings for modern women.

  1.  Getting to ‘I Do’: The Secret to Doing Relationships Right! by Patricia Allen

Dr. Pat is a firecracker! Girlfriend is very blunt and gets straight to the point, but she makes excellent points about what she has researched and found to be the secrets to doing a relationship right from the first month to the first year of marriage. She will walk you through the stages of a relationship and how things change by sharing with you how to make it work so it leads to marriage and happiness for both involved.

  1. The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are by Brene Brown

Brene is awesome! No wonder she is now in O Magazine monthly and has her own course which Oprah backs! Her book is a refreshing read on embracing your imperfections and discusses the power of being vulnerable and not being ashamed or guilty of who you are.

  1. Sacred Woman: A Guide to Healing the Feminine Body, Mind, and Spirit by Afua Queen

This is a very well researched and well written read by a woman who has put countless years of studying and working with women into one powerfully packed book which covers everything from an afro-centric perspective of healing and empowerment. She focuses on everything from health, relationships, beauty, space, words, and foods that an empowered and sacred woman she used to be her best self. She includes very practical steps to take for each area in your life, as well.
