Recently Kerry Washington spoke with Teen Vogue, and did a piece on what she would say to her 18  year old self and here are 3 main takeaways from Ms. Kerry aka Olivia Pope:

1. “Make sure that your dreams are yours,” she says. “Make sure that you are not pursuing the dreams that somebody thinks you should have, because dreams take a lot of work and a lot of support, and you’ll be more inspired to go after them if they are really, really yours.”

2. “Just know that everybody has growing pains and the only way out is through,” she says, adding, “You’re going to find therapy and it’s going to be amazing!”

3. “The things that challenge you the most in life are probably going to be the things that you look back on and are so grateful for because they made you better. So, the things that challenge you, try to be grateful for them and try to imagine how they have been put in your life specifically to help you.”
Now, I want you to consider what would you say to your 18 year old self?
When you look back at how far you’ve come you will realize that you know more than you think, are stronger than you are, and are way more FIERCE than you give yourself credit for.

Now, looking ahead, where do you see yourself 18 years from now?

Write this down—get yourself a “DREAM JOURNAL” and write in it often.
